The Best Hotels in Long Beach, California

Long Beach is a destination city for tourists and business travelers alike. The city features attractions such as the world famous Queen Mary, the Aquarium of the Pacific, as well as beautiful beaches. In addition, Long Beach is home to the beautiful Long Beach Convention Center, and multiple cruise lines sail out of the Long Beach Cruise Terminal.

Whether you are coming to Long Beach for business or pleasure, you’ll need a place to stay. Here are our recommendations for the best hotels in Long Beach, California.

Best Chain Hotel in Long Beach: The Westin Long Beach

The Westin Long Beach gets our vote for the best chain hotel in the city. While the rooms themselves are fairly standard (although very clean and modern), the rest of the hotel is beautiful and gives off a luxurious, elegant vibe. The on-site fitness center is well equipped and includes a sauna. There is more than 50,000 square feet of meeting spaces, making it ideal for business travelers. It is also conveniently located near the Convention Center, the Performing Arts Center, and the Terrace Theater.

Best Historic Hotel in Long Beach: The Broadlin Hotel

Visitors who love getting a sense of the history of the place in which they are staying should check out the Broadlin Hotel. The Broadlin Hotel is on the City of Long Beach’s list of historical landmarks. Built in 1928, it has a ton of historic charm! Rooms are apartment-style, making it perfect for guests who want to stay a while and have all of the comforts of home.

The hotel is located near the Long Beach Convention Center and Downtown Long Beach. It boasts of its “contactless self-checkin” system, which guests seem to both love and hate. Some love the ease in which they can check into their rooms and like the keyless access, while others miss interacting with a host upon check-in, and find the hotel to be somewhat lacking in customer service and the personal touch.

Best Short-term Rental Home in Long Beach: The Mint Casa

If staying in a Long Beach home is more to your liking, check out this beautifully designed short-term rental. The home was featured in Dwell, as well as Modern Home magazine, and contains artfully sourced furniture and décor, including many antiques. It’s conveniently located near Belmont Shore and the Naples canals, and only a short distance from the beach—making this home a great location for tourists. While you might pay a bit more for this home than you would in a Long Beach hotel, it does sleep four comfortably and has a fully equipped kitchen, laundry facilities, and a private outdoor area.

Hotel with the Best Location in Long Beach: Hyatt Regency Long Beach and Hotel Maya (tie)

The hotel with the best location is relative to what you want to be near as a visitor. If being close to the Long Beach Convention Center and Downtown Long Beach is your priority, you should look at the Hyatt Regency. However, if you are looking for a place to stay near the Queen Mary, the Hotel Maya is your best bet. Both hotels are well-equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay.

The Hyatt Regency is in the heart of Downtown Long Beach. Every room offers either an ocean view or a harbor view. The hotel features an amazing pool, with cabanas available to rent for the day.

The Hotel Maya (which is part of the Hilton family of hotels) offers a complimentary shuttle for guests looking to visit sites such as the Aquarium of the Pacific, Shoreline Village, or Historic Pine Avenue.  It also features its own resort-style man-made beach that features firepits and comfortable chaise lounge chairs. Bikes and paddleboards are available to rent for guests who are looking to be active during their stay.

Most Stylish Hotel in Long Beach: Hyatt Centric the Pike Long Beach

The Hyatt Centric is great for visitors looking for a hotel with a hip, stylish vibe. The hotel features trendy décor, a rooftop pool and bar, and a great location next to the Pike Outlets. The Pike Outlets offer shopping, multiple dining establishments, and a Ferris wheel. On the weekends, you can often see a variety of food trucks lined up around the shopping center.

Wherever you choose to stay in Long Beach, we think you’ll be impressed with the variety of activities and attractions available nearby!
